“Finding The Right Balance For Our

Everyday Lives”

Life doesn’t need to be hectic with simple everyday balanced changes

“If I am happy at home, I come into the office with tremendous energy. And if I am happy at work, I come home with tremendous energy. It actually is a circle; it’s not a balance.”

Jeff Bezos – CEO of AMAZON

Keeping Up Is Exhausting

We have to keep up with friends and family—checking-in to make sure everyone is doing alright.

We have to keep up with ourselves— making sure we hit the gym, meditate a bit, eat right and read to get smarter.

We must keep up with work— where we always feel behind.

In every facet of life, we must keep up. Keeping up keeps us exhausted!

It’s Driving Us Crazy

Never in our lives have we witnessed people so pressed for time as we do now.
We feel like, as of late, everyone we meet is suffocated by time—including ourselves, occasionally.

We all share the same desire to keep up with our bodies, minds, our relationships, current events, work-life, home-life, lifestyle shifts and so on, but, at the same time, have no idea how to actually balance any of it. It’s as if every waking moment—from the moment we lift our eyelids in the morning to the moment we close them again at night—is filled with tasks, obligations, assignments, and to-do lists.

Let’s Blame The Internet!

We personally blame the Internet, our devices and even social media!
Seriously—if we didn’t have the Internet, half of us wouldn’t know about yoga or meditation. The vast majority would have no idea what it means to eat paleo, or care to know what it is anyway. Instagram wouldn’t exist for us to ‘stay in touch’ with everyone through likes, while eating up precious minutes of our day, every day.
But because of our access to everyone and everything 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we put this huge emphasis on keeping up or staying in the loop or whatever you want to call it, while still trying to work, have a good home life, stay updated on world news and pop culture, and work on personal growth.
And that emphasis causes quite a bit of stress.

Our Attempt To Keep Moving Is A Good Thing

We’re just trying to be good people and better ourselves.

The problem is, most of us don’t know how to handle keeping up with everything—news, music, relationships, health trends, interests—especially in regard to time management.

We pile all these items on our plate, and still fill certain free pockets of our day scrolling Instagram or chatting gossip on the phone. We tend to succumb to tiredness after work and choose to consume passive entertainment like sitcoms over active entertainment like reading. And we miss small but crucial opportunities to check another task off of our personal growth to-do list for the day as a result of poor time management.

I’m here to tell you, there’s a way to keep up with everything—without sacrificing any extra time.

And It’s A Lot Easier Than You Think

Let’s talk solely in terms of personal growth for a second.
We’ll say the three things you want to keep up on in regards to improving yourself as a person are current events and world happenings, good nutrition, and personal finance strategies.
Basically, you want to save money, eat healthy, and be able to have a conversation with someone if they ask you about a world crisis or a shift in the politics-sphere.
In order to do that efficiently and effectively, you need to follow these simple steps first:

1. Identify down time you currently underutilize. This includes showering, doing laundry, cleaning your apartment or house, driving, riding the bus or train, walking.
2. Identify down time you currently allocate to passive activities. That includes watching Netflix, online shopping, scrolling social media, sending memes to friends, face-timing people in line at Starbucks out of boredom.
3. Pick a medium for learning. Books, email subscriptions and podcasts are recommended.
4. Fill all downtime with activities that aid toward your personal growth (or at least toward “keeping up”).

Keeping Up Doesn’t Have To Be Stressful.

It doesn’t even have to be hard.
As long as you choose to utilize your downtime effectively, your growth curve is exponential.
